Welcome to Rewaling Tours and Treks

Bhutan is the last Mahayana Buddhist kingdom nestled away in the Himalayas between India and China. Known for its unique richness in diversity combined with centuries old religion and philosophy, Buddhism came to this kingdom in the 8th century. Drukyul or the Land of the Thunder Dragon, as Bhutan is also known, still carries a legacy manifested in temples and prayer flags that dot the mountainsides.

Many peaks in Bhutan are yet to be named and below them steep glacial valleys lie above alpine highlands. Misty forests and glacial streams meander down from majestic mountains to warmer valleys throughout the Kingdom.

The Bhutanese sense of their place in their world is found in the mural paintings of the four harmonious friends often depicted on temple walls. According to the fable, a bird flew from a distant land carrying a seed in its beak. As the bird grew tired it dropped the seed where a hare dug a hole and a monkey joined in to plant the seed. An elephant stood over the young shoot protecting it from the elements. Soon it grew into a tree of life laden with fruits which the animals helped each other harvest.

This story is an example of living in harmony that resonates across the land. Today,Bhutan exudes this existence through its unique system of GNH or Gross National Happiness authored by our Fourth Druk Gyalpo King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
